Training OBJECTIVES

The photography major specializes in commercial photography with the emphasis to develop a photographic commercial ability.

This is an intensive year major. Students do base foundation classes in both film and photographic theory, and practical classes; the camera, shooting and framing, directing, MV’s documentary, script writing, basic commercial photography, basic editing, Photoshop and basic English. In the second year all students choose their preferred direction. Second year photography is based on more practical skills and developing an eye and understanding of the image and telling a story through the lens. There are core classes with visiting professors, workshops and the chance to showcase work. In the third year students begin preparing for their graduation show. By forth year they will present their graduate work – a body of photos, and a 5,000 word thesis.

 

Professional Photographic equipment

With a variety of advanced digital cameras, lenses, shooting accessories and lighting equipment, can be very good to meet the needs of teaching and students filming and creation.


Hands-on practice

The Academy Training Center 400 Lighting Room can be used as a professional practical teaching support. Apple editing suites can meet the needs of students to do photo-shop and production work.


A well-established teaching team

There are currently 12 professional teachers, including 1 professor, 2 associate professors (Foreign experts 2), combined with full-time teachers, experienced visiting professors and professional photographers who visit to workshop and cultivate student interest about the mainstream industry.

Teacher Disciplines

Department Head: Qin Hanhong: Beijing Film Academy 78 class. Has been the CCTV China TV drama Production Center director and producer.

Her creative experience as director has won high acclaim such as "High Cloud Ridge", "Housewarming" "For this Day", "Jared Story", "Dance on the Plains."

The works have received many Chinese TV drama nominations.

Professor, Master Tutor, former director of the Department of cinematography, Beijing Film Academy.

Practical Teaching

This specialty pays attention to the combination of theory and practical teaching, it will gradually increase during the four years training to enhance and cultivate the students ' hands-on ability. Each course strives to achieve practical classes: in-class practice, Creation day, concentrated practice, graduation creation. The specialty of the course is "Business photography" where by the students need complete a group of commercial advertising photography and post-production work. The curriculum can reflect the students’ creative ability and level. Students receive industry-first-line advertising through this course

 

After graduation our graduates can expect to be employed in educational institutions, major national newspapers, magazines, publishing houses, advertising companies, cultural communications companies, news media organizations, government agencies and corporate departments.
